Newsletters. WHY is everyone using newsletter? What IS the big deal? Do I even need one.
YES HONEY, YES YOU DO.

Freebie ideas for newsletter signups- We call these carrots- they help build trust while GIVING incredible content.
FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS- I would totally build segments of lists- one for brides and one for photographers.
For brides- figure out what you are using the newsletter for? If you want to use it to book you jobs… THIS is how you do it.
Let me play this out for you. You have a prospect come to your site. She loves you but isn’t sold on you yet. She sees you offer a FREE planning resource vendor guide for vendors in HER AREA plus a sample timeline. She signs up for your newsletter, gets the goods and is blown away. She then forgets about you.. until your scheduled email arrives the following day.
This email says hello and includes one includes your top blog post about the 10 things most brides don’t plan for.. AWESOME. She reads that. NOW she is getting to know you and learns you like to help brides have an amazing wedding day. SHE also wants an amazing wedding day. WIN. She still doesn’t book you…
Then the next day she gets another automatic email for you about the 5 ways to create intimate moments between you are your groom on your wedding. SHE CLICKS right away… this changes everything. when she reads your blog post… She shows it to her groom… NOW you are talking. She even gets teary eyed looking at images of past grooms crying when they see their brides… 80% sold.
The next day she gets another email- right from you, talking about your why behind helping relationships between couples. That you don’t just shoot for photos but your shoot for hearts and you build a connection with every client because you believe your impact in the world is greater than photos but goes deeper into legacy.
You add a click now button to your packages and you give her your phone number to text you to meet for coffee..
BOOM DONE.
So what do bride want? They want an incredible wedding day. What can you give them? Your knowledge of the industry, vendors, love, lighting, wedding tips, timeline and more.
THESE things are incredibly valuable for her.
NOW, brides also love girlie things so extend it to . your expertise and personal quirks. You can set up and entire workflow to send each bride that signed up and email for the next year every couple weeks to help her prep for the wedding. DYI hair treatments, date ideas, planning tips from past brides.. etc. THEN once she gets married, she will still follow along for great beauty tips, and dating ideas.. cultivate your brides in connection because they are your sales task force.
FOR NONE PHOTOGRAPHERS- do the same things.. except get your ideal client via something that connects to what you do.
Let’s use Katie Trivette as an example- she makes jewelry.
I would put together my top ten styling tips for the boho beauty (or modern maiden etc) This could be as simple as a 3 page PDF. See Justin and Mary’s lighting guide. SO SIMPLE.
Get your ideal clients attention with something she values. If she would buy jewelry she cares about style.
From there I would create a 3 part email series that welcomes her to the list, gives her more great DIYs, style tips, fashion resources and more. BECOME her accessory guru. Interview people, send her tons of GREAT content you know she would love…. then after you have build connection, you can show her how you can style your own jewelry…Think outside of the box, and stay tuned for a blog post about this and some of the practical elements too <3
