Hi darling! Welcome to the my journal, my journey about my real life, my heart and my travels photographing beautiful souls! Sit back, have cup of tea and stay for a while and be sure to say hello!
I felt it today… OK more than once. And honestly that VERY feeling is what gave me the feeling for this post. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO POST.
I feel like there is a perpetual demand for content. I mean with snap-blog-twitter-face-newsletter-tube-gram the CONTENT monster is ALWAYS hungry. Gary V says we need to be a YES nation when it comes to social networks. YES TO EVERYTHING because this is where our industry is and is heading. REALLY GARY? ALL OF THEM?! Are you sure? Don’t you mean we need to say yes to pizza instead? URGH! Did I mention podcasts too?
But really, I get it. The more yeses, the more we can help, connect and build the momentum to build our connection. We can’t afford not to say yes. But the yes is not for the faint of heart. It takes a lot of intentionality AND A TON of coffee. CHEERS!
Here are my top tips to creating and curating DAILY content that keeps the monster happy while not killing ourselves.
Back away from the sword boo. You can do this.
1.) Stop over thinking:
No one is checking and re checking your stats but you. Put that away, turn the notifications off and step back. Create, dream and innovate. Don’t worry if your tweet isn’t that funny or if your captions are perfect. JUST breath and keep going. Remember it’s a long term game.
2.) Tell a story.
Can’t think of ANYTHING to say? I hear you! Take a photo and tell a story. Telling stories in your brand makes a huge difference between connection and well.. not. Don’t throw information at people instead invite them in by telling a story. Let’s say you show a cup of coffee because let’s face it, coffee it life. Tell the story of the room you are in, the smell of the brew, the sounds you are sharing and the emotions of the moment. Invite people into your story and your life and remember on the other side of those numbers are life long friends. Treat them like it.
3.) Find an image that inspires you.
One of the best ways to get the content juices flowing is by getting inpsired. Not inpsired by your kitchen table and the desk you see every. single. day. Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Hop on pintrest, look back on images you’ve taken, find something that makes you excited then share it with your tribers. There are tons of free image sites like Pexels.com that allow you to use high quality images for free with great resolution. Why not find find a feed to get lost in (for a few moments) or a person that has helping you and do a shout out to them! Sometimes what we need is locked up in other people. Go find them and celebrate them, then watch your own energy change!
4.) Think about who you are talking to.
When trying to curate content something we can get lost in the game and forget about the players. The players are the people on the other side of your content who want to engage with you authentically. Think about them when you are creating content. How will your post make them feel or invite them into your space? Be mindful of the mission of the post.
5.) Be authentic.
There is nothing worse than faking the funk. I mean really, have you ever read a post from someone you know and think “OMG that doesn’t even sound like them.” Be true to your voice, your style and your quick even if you THINK they are out of place. Trust me, they aren’t. They are what make you unique and we all LOVE THEM! Just be you… you gorgeous being you 😉
Hope this helps you wild content monster tamer. Don’t worry, as you find habits that work for you, you’ll find you have tricks to getting yourself fire up for the next time you get to connect with your FRIENDS!
SO MUCH LOVE!
Julie
